THIS WAS AWESOME! The whole series is a very adult perspective disguised as a teenager comic。 Especially volume 6。 Well written, well crafted, well drawn。 I had a blast! So much fun!

Totally worth itOverall Scott Pilgrim saga is a great read, I really enjoyed it - was kinda like meditation, soothing very canadian experience。 Side characters are brilliant, I was a little sad when there were very little of them in last two books。 Kim Pine is my favorite, Scott and Ramona aren't even top 5。I'm so glad I didn't watch movie because now I will watch it for the first time and gonna love it。 Totally worth itOverall Scott Pilgrim saga is a great read, I really enjoyed it - was kinda like meditation, soothing very canadian experience。 Side characters are brilliant, I was a little sad when there were very little of them in last two books。 Kim Pine is my favorite, Scott and Ramona aren't even top 5。I'm so glad I didn't watch movie because now I will watch it for the first time and gonna love it。 。。。more

The whole scott pilgrim series is amazing。 More than amazing to honest with yall。 It is even better than the movie。 The movie is good too but I liked the comic series a bit more than the movie。 Both are good in its own ways。 As for the video of the series, gonna get for the future and play it cause why not。 Truly an amazing series and it should get more hype than it deserves。 Bryan Lee O'Malley as well as the other people apart of series truley did their hardest。 So proud uwu The whole scott pilgrim series is amazing。 More than amazing to honest with yall。 It is even better than the movie。 The movie is good too but I liked the comic series a bit more than the movie。 Both are good in its own ways。 As for the video of the series, gonna get for the future and play it cause why not。 Truly an amazing series and it should get more hype than it deserves。 Bryan Lee O'Malley as well as the other people apart of series truley did their hardest。 So proud uwu 。。。more

I didn't dislike this one as much as I did Volume 5, but it still wasn't good。 Scott and Ramona just suck as people and for all their talk of growth, they don't grow up。 They deserve each other。 I didn't care about any of the characters。 Main points of dislike: the fact that Scott went round to his exes and kissed them to get over Ramona。 Nah mate, dick move。 Gideon's randomly frozen exes- it has no effect on the plot and is finished within pages of finding out it exists, just why?I tend to pref I didn't dislike this one as much as I did Volume 5, but it still wasn't good。 Scott and Ramona just suck as people and for all their talk of growth, they don't grow up。 They deserve each other。 I didn't care about any of the characters。 Main points of dislike: the fact that Scott went round to his exes and kissed them to get over Ramona。 Nah mate, dick move。 Gideon's randomly frozen exes- it has no effect on the plot and is finished within pages of finding out it exists, just why?I tend to prefer books over the films but this is an exception。 The film is way better and I just need to hope that reading this hasn't ruined the film for me 。。。more

3。5/5 Stars。 This was pretty okay。 As a whole, Wallace and Envy are the best characters in the series for me。

I’ve been a huge fan of the film “Scott Pilgrim vs the World” ever since middle school。 I had only ever read Precious Little Life and Finest Hour beforehand but decided recently to read the series as a whole and in the new color editions。 I think for the most part, the film is a good adaptation of the series but faces an issue that was impossible to avoid。 Adapting a six volume series into an almost 2 hour movie is going to lead to having to excise and water down certain aspects of the books for I’ve been a huge fan of the film “Scott Pilgrim vs the World” ever since middle school。 I had only ever read Precious Little Life and Finest Hour beforehand but decided recently to read the series as a whole and in the new color editions。 I think for the most part, the film is a good adaptation of the series but faces an issue that was impossible to avoid。 Adapting a six volume series into an almost 2 hour movie is going to lead to having to excise and water down certain aspects of the books for the sake of the runtime。 I think the movie works as its own beast but O’Malley’s series needed at least a miniseries to fully develop these characters。 Characters like Envy, Knives, Knives’ Dad, Lisa, The Katanagi Twins, Kim, Gideon, and the Nega Scott have way more depth in O’Malley’s series compared to the film。 I’m splitting hairs for the most part but Envy and Nega Scott are the most disappointing when it comes to translating from page to screen。 Envy has so much more depth to her that Wright wasn’t able to fit in due to runtime but Nega Scott becoming a punchline is funny out of the context of the series but knowing how masterfully O’Malley ties up Nega Scott in this volume it annoys the hell out of me that Wright turns him into a punchline。 Oh, well。 I still enjoy the film。 The series is incredible。 I highly recommend everyone to read it with it’s fun, complex, and well written characters to its incredible art design。 I highly recommend the color editions as it adds so much more character to such a colorful series。 。。。more

This was a series I'd been looking forward to for a long time, which is sad because this just didn't live up to my expectations。 Now, you're probably thinking that I'm just someone who watched the movie first and was expecting an elongated version of that, but no。 I have seen the movie, and I enjoyed it well enough, but what really led me to wanting to read this series is a retrospective I saw on YouTube about it。 I thought I was going in prepared, but apparently I wasn't。 I knew about Scott's w This was a series I'd been looking forward to for a long time, which is sad because this just didn't live up to my expectations。 Now, you're probably thinking that I'm just someone who watched the movie first and was expecting an elongated version of that, but no。 I have seen the movie, and I enjoyed it well enough, but what really led me to wanting to read this series is a retrospective I saw on YouTube about it。 I thought I was going in prepared, but apparently I wasn't。 I knew about Scott's way of handling his problems, I knew about Ramona and her baggage, and I even knew about how every single character seems to only want to speak with as much sarcasm as possible, but I still was taken by surprise with how much I disliked almost every character。 I think I only ended up liking Kim and Wallace in the end, because they felt like real characters。 Sure, both of them could be very sarcastic and even mean-spirited every now and again, but at least they had moments where they could drop all that and say something nice。 That's not to say that Scott isn't nice, but I was not prepared by the amount of whining he does in this series。 It got to the point where it felt like he was constantly doing it and it really began to bother me。 I understand what character type O'Malley was going for, and that type can be done well, but I don't think that was the case for this story。 Scott just spent way too much time repeating himself and gurgling out garbled nonsense dialogue。 The thing is, I shouldn't stop about halfway through the third book and wonder why these people are even friends with Scott or each other since all they do is snark at each other while also letting Scott do the bare minimum with everything without giving anything back。 Yes, that's part of his character arc where he learns to be more mature about how he treats others but from all the time he spent mooching off his friends while doing absolutely nothing for them in return that would resemble real friendship, I had to wonder why they still tolerated him being around。 Friendship should be mutually beneficial, with both sides helping each other out or providing good company and from the start Scott had not been doing either of those things for YEARS before the start of the series。 It just bothered me so much as to why anyone wanted Scott around after more than ten minutes, especially when half the time he's introduced to people outside of the normal group and they immediately didn't want him around。 If those guys couldn't stand to have him near them, then how were the people who were supposed to be his actual friends standing by him for so long? What does he do for any of them other than play bass in the band? If the series had been shortened (maybe nixing a couple of the evil exes? The twins and maybe Roxie perhaps? None of them added much to the story overall) things might have not have felt so drawn out and I'd have had less opportunity to let these things bother me。 I get one of the overall points of the story was to show that people can change but not overnight, which isn't a bad moral at all。 I just wish I had gotten to see more of who Scott could be if he wasn't getting in his own way more。 Same for Ramona by the way。This was my long way of saying 2。5 stars, the rating I give when I don't exactly hate or regret reading something, but I definitely wouldn't read it again nor do I want to read anything like it。 From what I read in the other reviews, this seems to be a 'me' problem; there's just something about this series that I'm not getting, which is sad since I so wanted to like these books。 I'm glad others had a good time, just wish I could have found it in me to have been part of the party instead of the person peeking out from the blinds of the next-door window who's confused as to what the fuss is all about。 。。。more

Guess I can watch the movie now。 By volume 6 the execution is tighter but the story becomes thinner。 Let’s see how the movie fares。 (Yes, I’m late to the party)

an underwhelming and depressing letdown。 i enjoyed it, i just expected something different。 i think my problem with it is that the whole book was a fight and so much did not feel resolved。

Scott finally faces off with the infamous Gideon, but will everything end how he wants? What I liked - The mix of action and mellow drama finally mesh better than the previous volumes。 The story wrapped up well and I appreciated/ enjoyed that it wasn’t a simple ending and that nearly all the characters had grown and changed for the better。 What I disliked - Not too much! The start of the volume was a little slow but it worked overall。 4/5。

Brianna Flores

Favorite book in the series。 Great ending。

Why it took me so long to read this series, I’ll never know, but I’m so incredibly glad I did。 Having watched the movie first, it was fun reliving my favourite moments, but there is absolutely no comparison to the growth and development seen in the series。 I think it’s safe to say this will be a series I’ll come back to time and again!

*Review of all 6 volumes*I first read these books some years ago, and whilst they weren't necessarily my first experience of manga - they are definitely my favourite。 Bryan Lee O'Malley does something truly magical with the way he unfolds the story。 You're already well invested in the characters before there is even a smidge of inference that they live in a video game world。But of all the things, it's the inherent sweetness and pain of everyday human lives that he manages to capture as the six v *Review of all 6 volumes*I first read these books some years ago, and whilst they weren't necessarily my first experience of manga - they are definitely my favourite。 Bryan Lee O'Malley does something truly magical with the way he unfolds the story。 You're already well invested in the characters before there is even a smidge of inference that they live in a video game world。But of all the things, it's the inherent sweetness and pain of everyday human lives that he manages to capture as the six volumes progress。 Everyone has to grow up, but that's not necessarily a bad thing。 It's a joy to see that progression, with Scott resisting it every step of the way。It's been a joy to reread these。 They hold up beautifully。 。。。more
